Jake Patchett began rapping close to a decade ago. As a founding member of the UK Hip Hop group 30KB (30,000 Bastards), he began creating a name for himself with his rapid delivery, intelligent imagery, articulate word play and cheeky punchlines. After releasing a critically acclaimed album ‘30,000 Leagues Under the Scene’, he moved to Korea for a change of scenery.
Hitting the ground running, he quickly carved a name for himself; becoming the most sought after MC in Korea, as well as the Seoul Slam Poet Champion – a title he still holds, Seoul's Ironmic Freestyle Battle Champion 2012, as a solo hip hop artist and as one half of the Seoul based Hip hop Group Wisecrue. He is also an MC for SHUT DA MOUTH (Korea's biggest electronic DJS), as well as a huge array of various electro, drum n bass and dubstep DJs in Korea.
Constantly performing around the country, at the biggest and most popular clubs and festivals (most recently and notably in a headline slot with Shut Da Mouth on the mainstage of UMF & World DJ Festival). Jake has become well known for his stage presence and there are very few who can match his energy in front of large audiences.
DJ’s performed with in the past year: Shut Da Mouth, Alex kidd, Beejay, J-Path, French Knickerz, Kingmck, Fenner, Bagagee (viphex13), House Rulez, Hoon, Fuji, Juncoco, Hogun, Yann Cavaille, Team Boner, Muze, Sonail Bastards, Sorimsa, Mistah Kang, Overdrive, Tweek, Noodle, Sound Session, Astro Voice, Ddambo, Didi Bones, Knuckle and shared the same stage with Skrillex, Steve Aoki, Sidney Samsom, ATB, Shy FX and DJ Marky to name a few...
As host of Mnet America’s Jjang, Jake brings a wealth of knowledge and experience of both Korea and the K-Pop entertainment industry. Hailing from Merseyside, England, Jake has lived and worked in Korea since 2010 as an entertainer and educator before being invited to host Jjang. Jake enjoys K-Pop because of its relevance as a symbol of Korean culture and his appreciation for the music stems from his gratitude for having been welcomed and having been provided with a variety of opportunities in Korea.
