Oh Ji Ho Promises to Ruin His Image for ‘SNL Korea 2’
Oh Ji Ho declared that he will destroy his image.
As the host of the upcoming first episode of tvN’s Saturday Night Live Korea 2 (SNL Korea 2) on May 26, Oh Ji Ho plans on showing the most drastic transformation in the 12 years of his acting career.
After taking on different roles as a comfortable next-door neighbor and sometimes a powerful charismatic character, Oh Ji Ho has proved that he is a good actor through various dramas and movies, but now he plans on challenging himself in showing a comedic side that has never been shown before.
If all goes well, Oh Ji Ho will have the audience members crying in laughter through 60 minutes of various sketches involving slapstick and verbal humor.
Although he has acted in comedic roles before, this is his first time actually participating in a comedy show.
Due to this, he is fully prepared to completely destroy himself to provide the best comedic acting he can possible give, especially after dawdling so many times on variety shows in the past.
Oh Ji Ho’s passion to ruin his image comes especially because his close friend, Kim Sung Soo, had dissed him when Kim Sung Soo hosted last season’s show by saying, “Are you watching Oh Ji Ho? You’re not good enough to even come on this show!”
With Oh Ji Ho stepping as the host this time around, it is expected that he will have a few nice comments to say to Kim Sung Soo.
Oh Ji Ho told enews on May 20, “I’m a little burdened that I have the responsibility to host and take care of each skit during the 60 minutes of live television, but at the same time, I’m really excited and think it’ll be a lot of fun. I promise to put on a great show that will make the viewers laugh so hard that they won’t notice the time passing, so please anticipate it!”
SNL Korea 2 is the Korean version of the U.S. television show, NBC’s Saturday Night Live, which began in 1975 and has been running for 37 years with constantly growing popularity.
SNL Korea 1 ended in January with high ratings of three percent and an audience’s support. With SNL Korea 2, the production team promises an even funnier, wittier, and more powerful show, creating the ultimate ‘Live TV show for Adults.’
One characteristic that cannot be ignored about SNL Korea is that it is broadcasted live, adding in a feeling of thrill and nervousness for what could happen during the show.
With six to seven sketches performed live from the opening to the closing of the show, the show sends the realistic atmosphere of the live studio to the viewers’ home with ad-libs and unexpected situations.
This season will be produced by director Jang Jin, continuing from last season, and Lee Han Ui, Kim Won Hae, Jang Young Nam, Kang Yumi, Ko Kyung Pyo, Kim Seul Gi, Kang Sung Jin, Im Hae Young, Jung Sung Ho, Jung Myung Ock, Kim Min Gyo, and other very talented comedians and actors will participate in making the new season a success with their acting and comedy.
