The two-part special drama aired last August 15, on Korea’s Liberation Day, and had Kim Dong Wan portray the role of the poet and Korean independence activist, Lee Youk Sa. Lee Youk Sa was a revolutionary poet who lived in Korea during its Japanese colonial era and died in prison at the age of 40 after leaving behind some 40 works of poetry.
Regarding The Peak’s grand prize, Kim Dong Wan said, “The script was so great that it was a work I couldn’t put down and stop reading. I’m grateful to writer Hwang Jin Young. I did my best and many people did watch it but I do have some regrets as I wonder if I wasn’t able to convey even half the emotions I felt while reading the script. But as the drama has received such great praise, I’m very happy.
The WorldFest- Houston International Film Festival is an annual film festival in its 45th year. The festival is dedicated to various types of independent films and is one of the world’s oldest independent film festivals.
