TVXQ’s Japan Concert Tour Brings in Record Amount
TVXQ’s latest Japanese concert tour has drawn to a close, after 97 days and 26 concerts.
From January 18, beginning in Yokohama, until April 23 in Osaka, TVXQ’s TVXQ Live Tour 2012~TONE~ took over Japan.
Performing hits from their last full-length album, Tone, released in September of last year, as well as its long list of other hits and powerful individual stages, the TVXQ members wrapped up the concert tour on a high note.
It was revealed that TVXQ′s concert series had attracted a record total of 550,000 individuals, making TVXQ the record holder for the largest total audience attracted by a Korean artist in Japan. TVXQ’s previous record was 300,000 individuals from its concert tour in 2009.
At a press conference after the concert, member Max Changmin said, “It’s our first tour in three years but having brought in more audience than three years ago, there’s a sense of pride. In the past, the five members were faithful to their respective roles but this time the two of us demonstrated the most of our individual merits. This time we had fun, chatting, laughing and enjoying ourselves while doing our performances.”
U-Know Yunho added, “Back then we did music that fit our age and now we are doing music that’s fitting of our mid to late twenties age. I’m confident our individual skills have improved.”
U-Know Yunho also shared this time around he saw a definite increase in a specific demographic – males.
“We’ve had an increase in male fans as well,” he said. “I think our stages are becoming a ‘show’ that the whole family can enjoy.”
Up next, TVXQ will be holding large-scale fan signing sessions at Saitama’s Super Arena on June 30 and July 1, and at Kobe’s World Memorial Hall on July 7 and 8.
