Actress Kim So Eun is well on her way to becoming the next hallyu star in the Greater China Region.

On April 9, Kim attended the drama premiere of Secret Angel (directed by Jo Woon, script by Moon Sun Hee) at The Bund (Wai-Tan) in Shanghai, China. The drama premiere was met with an enthusiastic response as the Chinese media and local fans turned out in droves at the scene.

Scheduled for a total of 10 episodes, Secret Angel recently aired its third episode. Although the drama is still fairly new, it has already surpassed 40 million viewers and is currently enjoying an ardent following.

Even the inclement weather couldn’t keep the fans away from the Secret Angel premiere, as they came to see Kim, Jang Woo Hyuk and Chen Shi Ang.

In particular, the Chinese media showed a great interest in Kim. As a supplement to her role in the drama Boys Over Flowers, which was well received by Chinese viewers, Kim used her clumsiness to her advantage in Secret Angel and transformed herself into a genuine hallyu star.

Kim’s popularity was also evident at the airport, where she was greeted by countless fans during her arrival in China.

With her ascension to the throne as a ‘hallyu angel’ near its completion, Kim said, “I am extremely grateful for the love and support of the Chinese fans. Although there are seven more episodes left in Secret Angel, I hope the audience will enjoy the drama all the way to its end. Hopefully it brings them as much happiness as I experienced while shooting the production.”

Meanwhile, Kim was recently cast in jTBC’s upcoming drama Happy Ending.
