Gong Hyo Jin Sports Armpit Hair in a Sex Scene
Say what now? Gong Hyo Jin, coolest romcom chick around, sporting armpit hair?
Though Tang Wei previously shocked her audience in 2007 through the film Lust, Caution by showing her armpit hair during a bed scene, that was a period piece - so what′s up with Gong?
Apparently, there′s a similar bed scene coming around the corner to the Korean box office. The film Love Fiction, starring Ha Jung Woo and Gong Hyo Jin, will showcase a bed scene between its lead actors, with the actress′ armpit hair intact.
Love Fiction was unveiled on February 15 through the press preview held in Seoul. The romance between the third-rate writer Gu Ju Wol (Ha Jung Woo) and his lover Hee Jin (Gong Hyo Jin), a couple who met by chance in Berlin, entertained its audience and received favorable reviews.
The first bed scene in the film between Ha and Gong was even enough to unarm the sharpest of critics.
Ju Wol is groping Hee Jin’s body when he comes upon the hair on her armpits. He immediately exclaims, “What the- What’s this?” the way anyone would after finding armpit hair on a seemingly perfect woman.
Hee Jin, however, isn’t ruffled. She says, “I grew up in Alaska. They don’t shave armpit hair there.”
When Ju Wol continues to hesitate in becoming any more intimate with her, Hee Jin is disappointed and stands up, saying, “I’m not going to sleep with you.”
Ju Wol then comes to his senses, and tries to pass his attitude up with jokes like, “I love hair. Even my TV at home is digituhl (hair).”
He continues to grope through Hee Jin’s armpit hair and says he “would like to apologize directly” to her hair. The scene was a masterpiece, portraying successfully the stubbornness of a man who goes to any measure to sleep with this woman, and a woman who has great self-esteem.
In the press roundtable held after the preview, Gong Hyo Jin laughed and said, “The director advised me to start growing out my armpit hair a year before we start shooting. I didn’t really have an aversion, and because the costume staff made some real hair for me, it was fun during the shoot. But now that I see it on a big screen again, it does embarrass me.”
Ha Jung Woo was all about praise for Gong, saying, “Actually, it’s not easy for an actress to be made up like that. I respect Gong Hyo Jin for not hesitating to act out that role in order to deliver her character. She’s a real actress.”
Love Fiction is a romantic comedy about how the writer Gu Ju Wol, who has never been in a proper relationship in his 31 year long life, meets the perfect woman Hee Jin. It will premiere on February 29.
