Jung Ryeo Won Will Marry Uhm Tae Woong If…
Jung Ryeo Won opened up on how she felt about Uhm Tae Woong’s desperate ‘2.5 million viewers for marriage’ pledge.
The press preview and roundtable for the film Neverending Story took place on January 9 in Seoul. Director Jung Yong Joo and actors Uhm Tae Woong and Jung Ryeo Won attended the roundtable to talk about their film.
To a question on how she felt about Uhm Tae Woong’s pledge that he would marry her if 2.5 million moviegoers see their film, she answered, “At first I was so surprised. I even prayed [to God] asking ‘is this really the man?’”
Uhm appeared on a program with Jung on January 9 and said, “What man living in Korea could see such a beautiful woman and not talk of marriage? I’ll marry Jung Ryeo Won if our film sells 2.5 million tickets.” As the two are both single and are at an age ripe for marriage, the pledge actually made big issues.
Jung said, “In my film career, I’ve never brought in an audience of more than a million. I’m looking forward to the results of this film, and if the citizens of Korea help us, I really will prepare [the marriage]. Please help us.”
“It was a statement made after hearing Hwang Jung Min’s 5 million pledge at the press conference,” Uhm explained. “I said it because I want the film to succeed, and I also want to get married. If the citizens of Korea help us, we’ll work hard to get married.”
Neverending Story is a romantic comedy about how the lottery-addicted and unemployed Kang Dong Joo (Uhm Tae Woong) meets with the diary-addicted bank clerk Oh Song Kyung after being given just six months to live.
