SNSD’s MBC Comeback Special Brings Higher Ratings Than Big Bang and BoA′s Specials
For all the success SNSD is finding with its new album and music video’s release, the group’s comeback special on MBC failed to bring in viewers.
SNSD’s comeback show, SNSD’s Romantic Fantasy aired on MBC on January 1, the same day as SNSD’s fourth album and title song music video’s release.
According to the AGB Nielsen Media Research’s viewership ratings results released the next day, the comeback special managed to receive a 3.8 percent rating. The special’s ratings were far below that of competing shows in the same time slot including KBS’ Win Win with featured guest Lee Young Ja (11.4 percent) and SBS’ new variety pilot, Thank You (7.4 percent).
Despite the disappointing numbers, others pointed out that SNSD’s comeback special did receive a higher viewership rating than both Big Bang and BoA, as Big Bang’s comeback show on SBS on March 9 of 2012 earned a 3 percent rating and BoA’s on SBS on July 28 earned a 3.2 percent rating.
SNSD unveiled its first performance of comeback title song I Got a Boy through the comeback show and will hold its first music show comeback stage on January 3 on Mnet’s M Countdown.
