Jay Park Brings High Ratings to ′SNL Korea′
Jay Park′s sexy acting brought high ratings for Saturday Night Live Korea (SNL Korea).
The December 1 broadcast of the show featuring Jay Park as a host garnered average viewership ratings of 1.54 percent, peaking at 1.85 percent (AGB Nielsen, cable households).
The episode especially drew 1.04 percent ratings from the main target age group of tvN, from ages 20 to 49. SNL Korea was the no. 1 show for its time slot in this age group.
The broadcast especially drew support from women in their 40s, as the average viewership ratings for this group recorded 1.96 percent, peaking at 2.49 percent. This makes the show again the no. 1 show for its time slot in that age group, and also means that Jay Park managed to reach into the hearts of women in their 40s with his risque jokes.
Not only that, the ratings are the highest for SNL Korea ever since it was changed to a regular program from a seasonal program.
Jay Park drew laughter from his viewers with his sexy, weird and funny parodies.
He even produced a special music video for the show with a parody song titled Because I′m a Man. The music video shows him as a husband who got caught watching porn by his wife. It features Jay Park′s honest lyrics and sexy acting, and is expected to garner as much interest as Yang Dong Geun′s My Mimi Doll.
In the Apple Syrup 2 sketch, where it parodies what goes on at the American firm Apple, Jay Park was shown using the company′s new portable motel, the iTel. Jay Park was the promoter for the item, and came to use it after meeting with NS Yoon-G at a club.
He also appeared as a Korean resident from New Zealand in a babysitter audition sketch and a rapper who stuck his rap in anywhere he wanted in a singing sketch, where he had to sing with senior singer Won Mi Yeon her single Farewell Trip.
A rep for the show said about Jay Park, "We were worried at first because Jay Park is a celebrity popular among younger fans, but when the host threw himself in without caring for his status, the viewers showed big support for him. I want to applaud Jay Park for his hard work."
