Song Il Kook on ‘Fermented Family’
Song Il Kook showed a great determination toward his upcoming drama, jTBC’s Fermented Family.
Lead actors Song Il Kook, Lee Min Young, Park Jin Hee, Choi Jae Sung, Lee Dae Geun and Kim Young Hoon appeared at the press conference for the drama held on November 28 in Seoul to talk about how they felt about being cast in the drama and what happened on set.
On how he felt about the eating scenes in the drama, Song answered with a laugh, “There aren’t many eating scenes,” and added, “I have a great appetite, so I usually eat a lot. I even ate 10 cup ramyeons at one point. Thanks to that, I gained more than 10kgs since I was filming MBC’s A Man Called God.
Song will become Ki Ho Tae, an orphan from the streets who transforms into a cook after finding his family. He will start out as a charismatic man of the streets, but later on will become a laughable cook. It is also Song’s first small screen comeback in a year and a half after A Man Called God.
He said, “At first I misunderstood the director a lot because there were so many scenes that ruined my image. But now that I see the whole woven together, I saw that the decision of the director fit in perfectly.” He added, “They say that after the storm comes a calm. Thanks to this incident, I got to trust in the director even more, and I felt I should work hard. I’ll thoroughly ruin myself through this drama. It’ll be worth it.”
Fermented Family is by the director Park Chan Hong and writer Kim Ji Woo, who have been working together for 15 years since the 1996 KBS program The New Generation: Adults Don’t Know. It stars Song Il Kook, Park Jin Hee, Lee Min Young and Choi Jae Sung, and will air its first episode on December 7.
