Lee Min Ki and Son Ye Jin Praise Each Other
Lee Min Ki and Son Ye Jin of Chilling Romance may have fallen too deeply into their roles, as they had nothing but praise for each other.
Director Hwang In Ho and lead actors Lee Min Ki and Son Ye Jin appeared at the press preview and roundtable for Chilling Romance on November 21 to share the stories they had to tell about the film.
When asked whether Son Ye Jin was “cute like she was in the film or whether she was charismatic as a partner,” he answered, “I didn’t see anything charismatic about her. The only thing I could think about her was that she was ‘pretty.’”
He added, “In real life the only thing I could think was that [Son Ye Jin] is pretty. I tried to find some part of her that wasn’t pretty, but I couldn’t. I couldn’t help but like her all the time we were shooting.” He also said, “It was so cold during our shoot. We even put on three layers of long underwear to continue shooting. I hope everyone thinks it’s good because we worked so hard for it.”
Son Ye Jin also showered Lee Min Ki with praise, revealing the reason why Lee was so popular with women older than him.
“Of course there are younger fans, but I think there are more older fans who like Lee Min Ki. I think they’re attracted to him because of his pureness.”
She continued, “Min Ki has a cuteness that arouses a certain maternal instinct in you. He is a very pure and cute junior.”
Finally, on the film itself, she added, “I’ve never been this concerned about the success and result of a film before. I was even comforted by the reporters while I was being interviewed. Because it’s a very unique role, I thought a lot about it, and worked as hard in shooting it.”
Son Ye Jin took on the role of the psychic Yeo Ri, and became the lover of the ghost-fearing horror magician Lee Min Ki. Lee Min Ki armed himself with a gentle image rather than the strong image he previously pushed for, and Son Ye Jin continued her legacy as the queen of romcoms, following her feats in the MBC drama Personal Taste.
Chilling Romance will premiere on December 1.
