Kim Tae Hee Cast in Her First Historic Drama, ‘Jang Ok Jung’ as Joseon Dynasty’s Infamous Lady Jang Hee Bin
Kim Tae Hee is donning the traditional head piece and hanbok for her first historic drama.
The production staff behind the upcoming SBS drama, Jang Ok Jung announced on October 8 it had cast Kim Tae Hee for the iconic role of Lady Jang Hee Bin.
Lady Jang Hee Bin is one of Korea’s best known royal concubines of the Joseon Dynasty and became known for her hunger for power and ruthless plotting before she was sentenced to death.
Countless Korean dramas and movies have portrayed the life and rise of Lady Jang Hee Bin but the new take by SBS is promising to show a completely new interpretation of the infamous royal concubine and show her involvement as a fashion designer and cosmetics-maker during that era.
The show’s production added it had set its eyes on Kim Tae Hee for the role even before the drama’s planning stages over a year ago.
With Jang Ok Jung not only serving as Kim Tae Hee’s first historic drama role but giving her the role as one of Korea’s most vilified historic female figure, anticipation is already buzzing for the drama’s premiere, currently scheduled for March of 2013.
