‘Running Man’s Director says Cast Gave Up Their Chuseok Holidays to Bring Back LeeSsang’s Gary
Running Man’s director has revealed the lengths the show’s cast went to convince LeeSsang’s Gary to return.
Over the course of approximately one week, both LeeSsang’s Gary and Gil announced their departure and then returned to their respective variety programs, creating a lot of clamor and fuss for both viewers and fellow cast members alike during that time span.
On Running Man, Yoo Jae Suk, Haha, Kim Jong Kook and all the other cast members came together to try and persuade Gary to stay, even cancelling and postponing this week’s originally scheduled recording on September 24 and 25, saying the recording would be meaningless without Gary.
The recording’s postponing wasn’t an easy decision to make as it also required the episode’s guests to agree to postpone their schedule and for the fact the postponement would mean the recording would occur during the Chuseok holidays.
However, the cast and staff of the show held no reservation or hesitation as director Jo Hyo Jin shared, “Thankfully, the members happily adjusted their schedules. Though everyone was very busy, they all believed Gary’s return was the most important thing,” showing the sacrifices the show had made for Gary.
Their sacrifices also proved to weigh heavily in Gary’s heart as the director added, “Gary felt a tremendous amount of guilt and hardship over [their sacrifices]. In the end, after seeing the loyalty from the members, Gary kept his loyalty as well.”
Gary will make his return in the upcoming DBSK episode
