[Poll] Which New Girl Group Do You Have Your Eye On?
There’s no shortage of K-Pop girl groups, but in the never-ending onslaught of new girl groups, there are a few teams that have managed to get noticed.
We know the girl group competition is fierce, but let us know who you think will rise above the rest to lead the new wave of girl groups by voting!
TS Entertainment, the agency that propelled girl group Secret to top girl group status, debuted SONAMOO at the end of 2014 with Déjà vu.
The group went for a strong concept to stand out in the crowded idol scene, and it worked.
SONAMOO returned with a lighter concept for Cushion a few months later but with the group’s signature sass still intact.
After hitting it big with 4Minute, Cube Entertainment set out to strike gold once more with CLC.
CLC went for a bouncy, but not overly sugary track in Pepe, which showcased the girls’ various charms, and even enlisted Rain for the choreography.
The girls continued to show off their loveable charms in Like, which was released earlier this year in May.
We admit, when GFriend made its debut with Glass Bead early this year, we moaned ‘Not another ‘pure’ and ‘innocent’ girl group,’ but it appears to be working for the group.
Because now, we admit GFriend’s latest release Me gustas tu is darn catchy.
Oh My Girl
When Oh My Girl first entered the music scene with Cupid in April, they may have been better known as ‘B1A4’s sister group,’ but the team is slowly making a name for itself.
Oh My Girl returned earlier this month with Closer, presenting a more mature sound and displaying their potential as an up-and-coming girl group.
Who can say no to Oh My Girl when they’re singing ‘Come on, come on, come on.’
After making their debut at the end of last year with Candy Jelly Love and surviving a few speed bumps, Lovelyz is back and stronger than ever (eight members strong) with Ah-choo.
Backed by Woollim Entertainment, the company that brought us Infinite, Lovelyz’ future looks bright.
Finally, there’s no denying there’s a lot of hype surrounding JYP’s latest girl group Twice.
Not only did Twice gain attention as JYP’s first girl group in five years since miss A, the girls went through a rigorous, might we add televised elimination process to earn a spot on the team, so we have no doubt these girls are prepared to go to battle.
Now it’s time to vote!
