The press conference for R2B: Return to Base took place on July 12. In addition to director Kim Dong Won, actors Kim Sung Soo, Shin Se Kyung, Lee Ha Na, Lee Jong Suk and the other actors of the movie took part in the conference.

During the interviews, Kim Sung Soo was asked by a reporter, “I heard you visited Rain in the army. Did he mention any hardships in the army?” To which Kim Sung Soo responded, “Don′t all our country’s men go and serve? Even Rain knew he would go and he went without any issues.”

But then he jokingly added, “But I don’t think he’s adjusting to army life well.”

In R2B: Return to Base Kim Sung Soo plays flight leader Park Dae Suh.

In order to shoot this movie about fighter pilots, the actors had to shoot for some six months. Following the conclusion of filming for the movie, Kim Sung Soo had paid a visit to Rain.

Kim Sung Soo continued, “It definitely seems going to the army after one’s gotten a little older isn’t easy. In the army it’s not about your age but your class. It didn’t seem easy for [Rain] to be with friends who are ten years younger than he is. But he seems to be doing well overall. If there was more time we could have advertised [the movie] together but even he felt very regretful and apologetic.”

Director Kim Dong Won added, “Rain has a lot of interest in the movie. He built up more muscle than when he shot Ninja Asssassin and is showing a lot of concern for the movie. I told him to make sure to watch the movie when he goes on leave.”

R2B: Return to Base will premiere in August.
