Eun Ji Won Acts with Friends 10 Years Younger for ‘Respond 1997’
Eun Ji Won may be at least 10 years older than his fellow cast members, but that doesn’t mean he can’t act like their friends!
Producer Shin Won Ho, Eun Ji Won, A Pink’s Jung Eun Ji, Seo In Guk, Infinite’s Hoya, Shin So Yul and Lee Si Eon appeared at the press conference for tvN’s upcoming drama Respond 1997 held on July 12 in Seoul.
Eun Ji Won said about the giant age gap between him and the rest of the cast, “The most difficult thing about this drama was acting as the friend of people at least 10 years younger than me. Sometimes I got mad at adlibs that Seo In Guk would throw out while shooting.”
He added, “I really thought of In Guk as my friend, and so I got mad whenever he talked, but I did think he was a good actor and also a bit rude,” to laughs from his audience.
Eun Ji Won was born in the year 1978, meaning that he’s 15 years older than the 1993-born Jung Eun Ji, nine years older than the 1987-born Seo In Guk and 13 years older than 1991-born Hoya.
Eun Ji Won will be transforming into Do Hak Chan, a boy that was born with a great background, handsome looks and a kind personality. He’s lauded as the provider of risqué videos and books, but he’s always timid in front of real girls.
The singer said about his erotic role, “I’m guessing that the dark circles under my eyes gave me such a character. It’ll be hard to act like the king of eroticism, but I think the director made him to be a mischievous boy.”
Respond 1997 takes place in the Busan of the 1990s, when H.O.T. and Sechs Kies were everything that mattered among high school students. Si Won (Jung Eun Ji) is a first generation fan crazy for H.O.T., Yoon Je (Seo In Guk) has a crush on Si Won, Hak Chan is the king of eroticism and Jun Hee (Hoya) shines bright as a mystery boy.
In 2012 the characters get together when they’re 33 years old for a school reunion, and when one pair announces they’re soon to be wed, the characters start flashing back to the year 1997 to relive their memories.
Respond 1997 is producer Shin Won Ho’s first piece since he transferred to CJ E&M after directing KBS2’s Old Miss Diary and Qualifications of Men. The script will be penned by Lee Woo Jung of 1 Night, 2 Days, Qualifications of Men and tvN’s The Romantic.
Two 30-minute-long episodes will air in succession every week. The first episodes will air on July 24.
