Joo Ji Hoon is Both King and Beggar in ‘I Am the King’ Trailer
Joo Ji Hoon is making his big return with a dual role.
On June 27, the official teaser trailer for the upcoming comedy historic movie I am the King was released.
Introducing Joo Ji Hoon as Sejong the Great, the soon-to-be king, is seen fleeing the royal palace grounds the night before his coronation ceremony as the crown prince doesn’t want to be king.
He comes across the servant Deok Chil (also played by Joo Ji Hoon) who looks just like him and the two comes to switch places in a Korean twist on the fable ‘The Prince and the Pauper’.
Eight character movie posters were also revealed showing some of the movie’s main actors dressed in character. Among two of the posters Joo Ji Hoon is seen regally dressed in official royal robes as Sejong the Great while another poster shows him as the scruffy servant Deok Chil and dressed in peasant clothing.
The movie will premiere on August 9 and marks the actor’s big screen comeback since both his mandatory military service as well as his drug scandal.
