SHINee’s Jonghyun brought up the song he wrote for IU.

Ranking number one on various music charts since releasing the solo album Base, Jonghyun recently recorded KBS 2TV’s Yoo Hee Yeol’s Sketchbook.

While filming the show, Jonghyun brought up the song A Gloomy Clock in IU’s album.

Jonghyun said, “It’s a song that I wrote for myself, and I asked IU about the arrangement. When IU heard the song, she told me that she wanted to include it in her album, so I gave it to her. It’s a song that was sold three hours after it was written.”

Then Jonghyun sang his version of A Gloomy Clock, presenting a different feel from IU’s A Gloomy Clock.

Revealing that he thinks about an artist when he writes songs, Jonghyun revealed that there is a song that he wrote with Jang Kiha in mind.

When MC Yoo Hee Yeol asked him to sing a bit of it, Jonghyun sang Jang Kiha’s version of a song, surprising the audience members by presenting a voice and style similar to Jang Kiha’s.

Jonghyun also sang Michael Jackson’s Black or White to which Yoo Hee Yeol commented, “It’s a difficult song to sing but you sang it very well.”

Jonghyun then shared that he imitated Michael Jackson’s style of singing in SHINee’s song Love Like Oxygen.
