Actor Jang Hyuk revealed the story behind his stage name.

On the October 10 broadcast of SBS TV’s Healing Camp, the actor revealed, “My real name is Jung Yong Jun. I took on my manager’s name, Choi Jang Hyuk, as my stage name.”

Where Did Jang Hyuk’s Name Come From?

“After I was cast in a drama at 20 years old, I became arrogant,” said the actor. “Every day, I would practice signing autographs with the name Jung Yong Jun, but after hearing the people from my agency say my manager’s name ‘Jang Hyuk,’ I decided it would be a good stage name. That’s why my autograph from my debut days looks awkward.”

Jang continued, “I’ve been with the same agency, since I debuted, for 17 years now. I’m really grateful because when everyone told me I would never make it, [the agency] believed in me and cheered me on.”

The actor is currently filming SBS TV’s A Tree With Deep Roots.
