SM Entertainment Joins Hands with Kakao Talk

SM Entertainment signed a partnership agreement with mobile service provider Kakao Talk.

SM Entertainment stated on October 10, “We’re planning to establish a new music platform within Kakao Talk to provide worldwide service. By doing so, we’re bringing synergy effects to K-Pop wave to set up a standing board for a global music market.”

SM Entertainment is expected to elicit enthusiastic response from Kakao Talk users by offering a variety of content in real time.

In addition, Kakao Talk plans to strengthen its content and to grow as a worldwide mobile platform to advance to the global market through the partnership.

CEO Kim Young Min of SM Entertainment told enews on October 10, “We’re looking forward to creating a new music platform for Kakao Talk users and establishing a new music content market.”

The tie-up between the company creating content and the mobile service provider is expected to bring a new trend to the digital content market down the road.
