Super Junior Tops Oricon’s Weekly Single Chart for First Time Since Debut

Super Junior has topped Oricon’s weekly single chart.

Super Junior’s sixth Japanese single Mamacita – Ayaya – released on December 17, ranked number one on Oricon’s daily single chart on the day of its release before topping the weekly chart as well. This is the first time that Super Junior has topped Oricon’s weekly chart.

This single is the Japanese version of the seventh full length album’s title song Mamacita, which was released in Korea in September, and Super Junior previously won first place on various music charts in Korea with Mamacita as well as on Billboard’s World Album chart and the album charts in Hong Kong, Taiwan and more.

Super Junior has held exclusive concerts at Tokyo dome for three years in a row and gathered over 280,000 fans during Super Show 6 this year, which was held in Tokyo dome, Kyocera dome and Fukuoka dome.

Oricon wrote an article on its website on December 23 with the title ‘Super Junior, Wins First Number One with the New Song Released in a Year’ and wrote, “The Korean boy group Super Junior ranked number one on Oricon’s weekly single chart with the single Mamacita – Ayaya –. This is the new single they released in a year since Blue World was released last December and it is their first time ranking number one on the weekly chart.”

Meanwhile, Super Junior will be launching Super Junior World Tour ‘Super Show6’ in Bangkok on January 10 and 11 in Bangkok’s Impact Arena.
