Shin Min Ah’s Still Cuts for ‘Arang and the Magistrate’ Released
Shin Min Ah has donned a hanbok for her new role in her upcoming television drama.
Following the release of her co-star Lee Joon Gi’s still cut for the upcoming drama, Arang and the Magistrate, on June 20, MBC released Shin Min Ah’s character stills as well.
In the drama, Shin Min Ah plays Arang, the reckless ghostly spirit of a woman who died a regretful and wrongful death and comes across the magistrate Eun Oh (Lee Joon Gi).
Acting in her first historic drama, Shin Min Ah shared, “Arang isn’t a typical ghost character but is very bold and daring. She’s cynical, reckless and does what she wants but is still lovable.”
Arang’s character will also engage in a series of playful scenes involving death and ghostly superstitions including her fighting with other ghosts over go soo reh (a long-time ago custom in which people would throw a bit of their food away before eating a meal as an offering to ghosts), and her chasing, and being chased, by jeo seung sa ja, the angel of death.
Shin Min Ah clarified, “They’re not action scenes but more like scuffles so I tried to focus more on Arang’s situation and her emotions.”
She added,” As it’s my first work in two years, my greed and anticipation is big. Right now we are filming in a good and delightful atmosphere.”
On her costar, Lee Joon Gi, she said, “The always-passionate Lee Joon Gi always provides a lot of delight to not just myself but the entire staff as well and gives strength to everyone. Lee Joon Gi’s bright and positive energy always brings a lot of influence to the set.”
Arang and the Magistrate will also star Yeon Woo Jin, Yoo Seung Ho and will premiere on MBC sometime in the end of July.
