2014 MAMA shared its changing status as an award ceremony.

Director Han Dong Chul from CJ E&M attended the press conference for 2014 MAMA on November 17 in CJ E&M Center, Sangam-dong, and revealed that foreign artists send love calls to MAMA.

About the artists’ interest in MAMA, director Han Dong Chul said, “It’s an award ceremony where they get judged and receive awards so of course Korean artists look forward to participating.”

Director Han Dong Chul then said, “What the production team was surprised about is that many times, artists from the United States and Britain as well as from Asia ask us before we make our proposals. Since starting it small in 1999, we put together the event year after year as a part of our tasks, not knowing that Mnet broadcasting station will get such a status as now. Now we think that we are making an award ceremony even for the foreign artists.”

Director Han Dong Chul shared, “Things that we didn’t even imagine of are happening in front of the PDs and in the world of K-pop so I’m both proud and shocked each year.”
