My Name Holds Successful Pre-Debut Japan Showcase
My Name wrapped up its successful pre-debut showcase in Japan.
The showcase took place on June 11 at Tokyo’s Sibuya-AX. The showcase marks the start of the group’s plans in Japan, which include the release of its debut single in July.
The group previously announced it was signing with Yoshimoto Creative Agency, the biggest agency in Japan.
The press conference held before the showcase drew in about 50 media outlets and 100 members of the press, including those from the main Japanese channels Fuji TV and TBS.
The members said in the press conference, “We’re honored to be able to hold our first showcase in Japan. We’ll work hard to be at our best.”
About 2,000 fans, mostly in their teens and 20s, crowded the venue.
With the help of the hosts, the comedian duo 2700, My Name sang out the Japanese version of its Korean debut single Message, tracks from its upcoming Japan debut album I Want You and Summer Party, and Hello & Goodbye and Reply from its first Korean single album.
YU-A, who had previously worked with the group, appeared as a special guest and sang Switch together.
A rep from the group’s agency said, “The local fans moved the members by chanting out the Korean fan chants perfectly, and some fans even showed tears in their love for the group. The members presented their fans with a time to remember by holding a ‘high-five session’ with their fans after the showcase.”
My Name grabbed attention for signing with Yoshimoto Creative Agency in the best deal out of all K-Pop singers, and plans to continue on with the attention in its Japan debut single to be released on July 25.
