Singer/actor Eric revealed the reason he was able to entirely pour himself out in KBS2’s Discovery of Romance.

During an interview with enews on October 16 in Sinsa-dong, Seoul, Eric said, “When I saw the scripts before I began filming, I felt like many of the parts were similar to my own story.”

Eric said, “I thought, if I can empathize with the drama, that means other people like me or other people who are around my age, can also feel what I felt from reading the scripts. And I thought that could make it a long-lasting drama. I think it was more successful than I anticipated,” and smiled.

Eric explained, “Instead of changing my viewpoint on love, I came to realize more things about the other person through this drama.
I used to wonder what the other person would think if I created a certain situation but I came to better understand their point of view.”

In drama Discovery of Romance, Eric acted as ‘Kang Tae Ha,’ who tries to win back his ex-girlfriend.

“Kang Tae Ha was the combination of the characters that I acted out in Firebird, Super Rookie and Que Sera, Sera. Since there is a limit to how much I can show, I tried to pick out certain traits from the previous characters, instead of creating a new character,” said Eric.

He emphasized, “Moon Jung Hyuk has traits similar to ‘Nam Ha Jin’ (Sung Jun), ‘Tae Ha’ and ‘Yeo Reum’ in real life but I used to only show tough or romantic sides. But in this project, the character was more natural so I was able to show my real self.”

Meanwhile, after taking a break, Eric will be preparing for Shinhwa’s new album.
