Joo Won shared his thoughts on starring in KBS2’s upcoming drama Naeil’s Cantabile.

Joo Won attended Naeil’s Cantabile Media Day on October 7 in Gangwon province, and started, “It is basically huge pressure to be acting in the remake of a great original piece.

Joo Won continued, “In Korea, Kim Myung Min sunbae has already gained popularity by acting as a conductor in the drama Beethoven Virus. Taking this into consideration among others, it was a big pressure for me to take on a new project and a new character.”

In Naeil’s Cantabile, Joo Won will be acting as ‘Cha Yoo Jin,’ a brusque perfectionist who dreams of becoming a world-renowned conductor. He is equivalent to ‘Chiaki sunbae’ in the Japanese original drama Nodame Cantabile, acted by Hiroshi Tamaki.

Joo Won shared, “After acting out savant syndrome in the drama Good Doctor, I felt like people’s expectations of me has increased so I decided that I shouldn’t choose a project where I just talk. I thought that I need to do something in addition to talking and that’s why I chose this project.”

He added, “I felt pressured in the beginning but now I think it was a good decision. The project definitely has its unique color compared to the competing dramas on other channels. I think it will be a new and fresh drama.”

Naeil’s Cantabile is set to air on October 13 at 10 p.m. (KST).
