Shin Min Ah Began Wanting to Date and Get Married After Filming ‘My Love, My Bride’
Shin Min Ah expressed her thoughts on dating and marriage.
During the press conference for the film My Love, My Bride on September 24 in CGV, Wangsimni, Shin Min Ah started, “I thought marriage was something that was distant from me before filming the movie but through this project, I was able to experience marriage indirectly.”
Shin Min Ah continued, “The two characters struggle and make up with each other in the end and I think that’s why I feel like I would be able to overcome struggles of marriage or a long dating relationship. I felt like I want to date and get married too.”
In the movie, Shin Min Ah will be acting as ‘Mi Young,’ who was goddess-like in the beginning but becomes ordinary as time goes by. She realistically depicts an average Korean wife, who might show her aegyo in one moment but nags at her husband soon after.
Shin Min Ah said, “Going from dating to marriage is like going from being a stranger to a family member, so I think the process of overcoming it is important. It’s about the human relationship between two people. Marriage is a big fantasy and I think you end up getting hurt if you expect too much from your partner. I think marriage is an extension of happiness and your relationship with other people.”
She added, “Since this project is a remake project, I felt pressured about the original piece. But the time period is different and Mi Young is also a worker in the movie, unlike the original piece. I wanted to express the struggles that she goes through as she takes care of her family and career. Although 20 years have passed, I think the story that a newlywed couple wants to tell has not changed. Love stories and couple stories are realistic subject matters that can be remade in the future as well.”
Meanwhile, My Love, My Bride is about realistic newlywed life of an ordinary couple Young Min (Jo Jeong Seok) and Mi Young (Shin Min Ah) who get married after dating for four years. It is the remake of the original movie of the same title, starring Park Joong Hoon and late Choi Jin Sil, released in 1990.
It is set to premiere on October 8.
