Super Junior’s ‘Mamacita’ MV Becomes Most Viewed K-Pop MV in August
The music video for Super Junior’s 7th full length album title song Mamacita (Ayaya) became the most viewed K-Pop music video in August, within three days of its release.
Billboard released a report on September 8 under the title ‘Most Viewed K-Pop Videos in America & Around the World : August 2014,’ announcing Super Junior’s Mamacita as the top 10 K-Pop music video chart based on the number of YouTube views.
The article stated, “The top viewed K-Pop video around the world was "Mamacita" by veteran boy band Super Junior this August,” adding, “Despite dropping with three days left in the month (Aug. 28), "Mamacita" pulled out the win over highly-anticipated debut videos from their label mates on SM Entertainment.”
The Mamacita music video also took the top spot on the ‘K-Pop music video top 20’ weekly chart on YouTube’s official K-Pop channel as well as on the Korean music video chart on Chinese streaming site iQiyi and Chinese music site YinYueTai, proving Super Junior’s hallyu star status.
Super Junior also won first place on MBC Music’s Show! Champion and Mnet’s M COUNTDOWN.
Super Junior will continue presenting performances of Mamacita on KBS’s Music Bank on September 12, MBC’s Music Core on September 13 and SBS’ Inkigayo on September 14.
