The Hong Sisters’ comeback drama Big will finally be unveiled on June 4. Even before the reveal, drama fans are looking forward as to whether it will be able to bring on a new trend in the Monday-Tuesday drama scene.

MBC’s Light and Shadow currently leads in its drama time slot, even scoring 20.5 percent viewership ratings for its most recent May 29 broadcast.

It is true, however, that it shouldn’t let its guard down. The drama was originally planned out to be a 50 episode long piece, but recently it was finally decided that it would end with 64 episodes, 14 episodes longer than the original.

The decision was made based on the drama’s high ratings, but because of the stretch, viewers have lost considerable interest toward the drama compared to how big it was in the past.

MBC’s competitors, in the meantime, have been organizing their ranks, and have revealed or plan to reveal new pieces that they believe will soon come to lead. Any of the dramas may be up next as the new leading player.

The biggest competitor is expected to be KBS2’s Big, which has been gathering interest for being the comeback piece of scriptwriters Hong Jung Eun and Hong Mi Ran, a duo known as the Hong Sisters.

The drama is a romcom about a perfect man with the soul of a teenage boy and his schoolteacher fiancée. Gong Yoo, Lee Min Jung and Suzy will be starring in the drama. The star-studded cast is, of course, a big attraction, but what draws the most attention is the comeback of the successful Hong Sisters.

Many are looking forward to what they’ll be coming up with next to follow their MBC piece The Greatest Love from last year.

Another factor that can’t be ignored is how word on SBS’ The Chaser is spreading fast. The Chaser recorded 9.3 percent ratings in its first episode, and for its second, managed to scrape up 0.5 percent more for 9.9 percent in total. It’s slow, but it’s showing it’s on the rise.

Its popularity comes from its excellent story and the acting of Son Hyun Joo and Kim Sang Joong. At the next chance it gets, it may turn the tables to land at the top.

The unavoidable new war has begun. Which piece will overcome the competition and start to lead the scene?
