KCON 2014 drew over a record breaking 42,000 fans to the arena for the two-day convention celebrating Korean pop culture.

This year, KCON opened up a free market from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. both days, where fans could could eat, shop and enjoy live music for free admission.

Stars could be spotted among the tens of thousands of fans in the free market, including special guest Eric Nam, who was manning the Viki TV booth as host.

′Get it beauty′ MCs actress Yoo In Na and Rainbow’s Jae Kyung also stopped by the Get it beauty booth to talk makeup with fans.

Many influential voices in hallyu were also invited to share their insights on the Korean wave at various panels and workshops, from choreographer Aimee Lee Lucas, makeup artist SSIN, K-Pop columnist Jeff Benjamin, Crazy Korean Cooking and more.

K-Pop’s audience is largely female, but the one place dominated by men at KCON this year was unsurprisingly the League of Legends tent, where attendees had the opportunity to pick up tips and even play against Korea’s top pro-gamers.

Meanwhile, over in the ‘Get it beauty’ booth, girls picked up K-beauty tips from professional makeup artists and gave the products a test drive.

Other CJ brands, like Tous les Jours, bibiGo, CGV, O Shopping and more, also set up shop in CJ Town, enabling attendees to experience ‘All Things Hallyu’ from food to fashion and media.

Local LA eateries and food trucks rolled up to the arena and fired up their grills to serve up dishes satisfying even the pickiest of hungry palates.

In addition to the traditional Korean street food fare, like kimbap, gopchang and ddukbokki, Korean wings and Korean Mexican tacos were among the Korean fusion offerings on site.

Fan clubs also raided the convention grounds, with fan clubs of CN Blue, Girls’ Generation, Teen Top, EXO, 2PM, Super Junior and more seting up booths for fellow fans to meet and mingle.

KCON′s ′M COUNTDOWN: 2NIGHTS in LA′ lineup, featuring performers like G-Dragon, Girls′ Generation, CN Blue, BTS, Teen Top and more this year, may have drawn the crowds in, but for fans who have K-Pop on the mind 24/7, KCON proved it is definitely the place to be.
