[Interview] Lee Kwang Soo Spills His Thoughts on Dating and Marriage
Having turned 30 years old this year, Lee Kwang Soo revealed that he is against dating publicly and that he has never thought of marriage.
In a recent interview with Newsen, Lee Kwang Soo said, “Ji Sung hyung told me that it’s better to get married early. Almost all hyungs say that I should marry as soon as I can for the sake of the wife and the baby. But I don’t feel like it’s time for me to marry yet. It seems like marriage is for people who are older than me. I have a friend who is married but I naturally became distant from him after he got his own family.”
He also said, “I even thought about going public with my relationship before. I would be congratulated if the relationship ends up in a marriage but it’s also important what the other person thinks about revealing the relationship. Actually, I don’t think I would go public with my relationship.”
Lee Kwang Soo worked with Ji Sung and Joo Ji Hoon for the first time through film Good Friends. The three got closer by promoting the film together and proved their closeness by dissing each other during the film’s press conference, which brought out lots of laughter.
Lee Kwang Soo said, “The hyungs really put me up and down. (laughter) Ji Hoon is a very charming person. He makes fun of me when we’re together but he praises me behind my back. I also got close to Ji Sung hyung and we joked around a lot.”
“Ji Sung hyung runs 15 kilometers every morning. Even when he is tired from filming, he woke up early in the morning to exercise. I felt like I was a lazy person since both of them always exercised. I felt motivated by them,” he said.
He shared, “Everyone says that I’m thin but I’m not the type to not gain weight. I gain weight when I eat a lot. I learned how to exercise from Kim Jong Guk and when I gain weight I skip dinner or watch what I eat. Since I’m tall, if I gain weight, I look huge.”
Taking over not only movies and dramas but variety show as well, Lee Kwang Soo is loved by many fans around Asia for being a member of SBS’s Running Man. He even earned the title of ‘Asia’s prince.’
“It’s a title that gives me a lot of pressure. I usually meet the fans around Asia through fan meetings. I do get offers for projects and commercials as well. But I haven’t really planned out my activities in details. I’m really grateful that fans in other counties like me.”
Lee Kwang Soo took his first lead role in a movie through Good Friends, acting as ‘Min Soo’ who bets his everything for friendship. He said, “I sympathized with the scenario but I think the audience will be able to sympathize even more. I watched it two to three times already and every time I watch it, I want to grab a drink with my old friends. I hope the audience will feel the same emotion.”
Meanwhile, Good Friends premiering on July 10 is about three best friends who struggle between friendship and suspicions due to an unexpected turn of events.
