Super Junior’s Kangin and Shindong Originally Prepared to be Comedians, Not Singers?
Kangin and Shindong, as a comedian duo group?
According to comedian Choi Koon, that may have been SM’s original intent for Super Junior’s Kangin and Shindong before they joined Super Junior.
On the May 21 broadcast of SonbadakTV’s Park Eun Ji’s Morning Show Choi Koon was one of the featured guests.
The theme for the episode was, ‘If I returned back in time to ten years ago,” and had the guests reflecting on their past.
During the episode, the comedian revealed that 10 years ago he was originally cast in SM Entertainment. He explained, “I won second place in an international youth festival and was cast in SM. But SM wanted to prepare me as a gag man and not an idol singer and I thought it would be better that I just come out [of SM] and just audition [as a gag man] at a broadcasting station.”
Choi Koon then surprisingly revealed, “At that time it was two years before Super Junior made its debut. Kangin and Shindong were [then] a gagman team.”
We’ve seen Kangin and Shindong’s comedic chops plenty of times before and aren’t too surprised by the news, although Super Junior fans must be glad that’s not how things turned out!
