Psy Says ‘Champion’ is More Precious to Him Than ‘Gangnam Style’
Psy expressed his special love for song Champion.
On June 18 at 6 a.m. (KST), Psy presented a special performance on the stage set up in Yeongdong street in front of COEX, to cheer for the Korean soccer team playing against the Russian team in Brazil World Cup game.
Psy began the performance with his hit Right Now and continued with Shake It, Gentleman, We Are The One and more.
About his song Champion, Psy said, “It’s the song that I wrote 12 years ago (2002), when I was inspired by all the citizens and the ‘Red Devils’ cheering for the Korea vs. Japan World Cup game. It’s the song that cannot be separated from World Cup and the one that revived me once again. I had to work very hard to write a song that can surpass this song and that took me ten years.”
He then revealed, “Champion is the most precious song to me, no matter how well Gangnam Style did.”
