With the wild success of its two Japanese concerts with at least 110,000 audience members at the Tokyo Dome, Super Junior was greeted with more good news as the group has sold a whopping 160,000 copies of its newest single album, Opera.

The single was released on May 9, and within a week sold at least 160,000 copies, pushing Super Junior to even higher heights in Japan.

Super Junior Sets New Sales Record of 160,000 in Japan

On May 15, a Japanese music specialty website, BARKS, which directly quotes from the Oricon charts, said “Looking at this week’s weekly single chart, Super Junior took third place with Opera. This is Super Junior’s third time being in the top three after Bonamana and Mr. Simple. The sales of 160,000 copies destroyed Mr. Simple’s 89,000 copies and set a new record to the most singles sold for a Korean artist. This proves that Super Junior is Japan’s No.1 K-Pop artist.”

It was also noted that Super Junior achieved this record with no campaigns or promotions whatsoever since the release of Opera, bringing more credit to the group.

After the success of their concerts and sales in Japan, the members of Super Junior will return to Korea to prepare for their Super Show 4 concert on May 26 and 27 at the Seoul Olympic Gymnastics Stadium.
