[Exclusive Interview] Eric Nam Talks Jamie Foxx, Miranda Kerr and Other Top Interviews
Eric Nam is signed to his label as a singer - but he’s made somewhat of a name for himself as a multi-talented entertainer.
Thanks to his roles as co-host of Arirang’s After School Club and interviewer on MBC’s Section TV, Eric Nam has spent a good chunk of his time working on the flip side, interviewing stars from all around the world.
Though he′s since stepped down to concentrate on his music, in an interview with Mwave, Eric Nam spilled on his most memorable interviews.
“Everyone has been super cool. But I’d say, Jamie [Foxx] for obvious reasons, was a very memorable experience,” said Eric Nam.
“I’d love to collaborate with him. I’m still in touch with his assistant and if he’s in ever in Korea, I’d like to put something together,” said Eric Nam. “Even that day [of the interview], he was like, come to the studio today and let’s try to put something together but it didn’t happen. So I’m always in touch trying to make something happen, but I know he’s crazy busy with [The Amazing Spider-Man 2] right now, but I think that’d be super fun.”
Eric Nam also recently made headlines for interviewing supermodel Miranda Kerr for the second time, earning praise for the relaxed and natural interview.
“Miranda Kerr was the first time we did an international celebrity twice, so having that first one going in, she was a lot more at ease and was a lot more open to it,” said Eric Nam. “We did yoga in the middle of the interview - a 3 minute yoga set - which, stuff like that, you don’t really get to see on Korean TV. So to connect like that was really cool.”
And though Eric Nam has interviewed many top stars including Matt Damon, Robert Downey Jr. and of course, countless Korean celebrities - if there was one star that Eric Nam could interview?
“Pharrell?? I saw Pharrell at the interview for Jamie, because he did the soundtrack for [The Amazing Spider-Man 2] and I was so starstruck I couldn’t say anything. I just stopped and stared, and from a distance, I was just like ‘It’s Pharrell, it’s Pharrell,” said Eric Nam. “He’s such a super cool guy, and I really wanted to say something...but I was there as press, and so it’d be weird for me to go up to him and be like, ‘I’m a singer.’ So it’s always finding that fine line...but really, anybody who comes to Korea would be cool.”
