On May 9, Kim Jang Hoon met with Kim Jong Wook, the president of Korea National Sport University and Choi Kang Jin, a professor and coach of the university’s swim team, to discuss the crossing of Dokdo for August 15.

For this August 15 event, professor Choi Kang Jin proposed his long-desired wish to Kim Jang Hoon, and Kim Jang Hoon promised to support him until it came true.

Professor Choi Kang Jin, who participated in swimmer Jo Oh Ryun’s Dokdo crossing, said, “We started planning this event in hopes of restoring faith and pride to our children and also showing Korea and Japan that Dokdo is ours by having the university swim team complete 215 km (about 133 miles) of swimming from Jukbyeon and to Dokdo.”

He added, “I believed that the only person who can be in charge of this event was Kim Jang Hoon, and he wholeheartedly agreed to take part in it. We will definitely succeed in the Dokdo crossing.”

Kim Jang Hoon also said “My heart beats so hard with just the thought of these students swimming to Dokdo, and I also want to support them, not just physically and mentally, but also through the swimming myself. With three months left, I will partake in the harsh training and learn as much as I can about swimming before joining the team.”

Not only is he participating in the August 15 Dokdo crossing project as captain and swimmer, Kim Jang Hoon will be supporting the other athletic teams, such as the synchronizeㅇ swimming team and yacht team, who also expressed interest in helping the project get known.

In addition, Kim Jang Hoon has recently finished his large-scale five year national project regarding Dokdo and the East Sea, and will be holding a press conference on May 21 to unveil the plan.
