Jeon Do Yeon Becomes First Korean Actress to Judge at Cannes Film Festival

Jeon Do Yeon has been appointed to the Jury at the Cannes International Film Festival.

According to Cannes International Film Festival on April 28, Jeon Do Yeon was appointed to the Jury for the 67th Cannes International Film Festival, in which she and eight other people will select a winner out of the 18 films in the Competition category. Affiliates of the festival also revealed director Jane Campion as the president of the jury, and the other members as well.

Director Lee Chang Dong was appointed as a jury member in 2009 for the film festival, but Jeon Do Yeon is the first Korean actress to be honored with the position.

Jeon Do Yeon received the Best Actress Award at the Cannes International Film Festival in 2007 for her role in director Lee Chang Dong’s Secret Sunshine..

For the upcoming film festival, she will be working alongside New Zealand’s Jane Campion, France’s Carole Bouquet, USA’s Sofia Coppola, Iran’s Leila Hatami, USA’s Williem Dafoe, Mexico’s Gael Garcia Bernal, China’s Jia Zhangke, and Denmark’s Nicolas Winding Refn.

The Cannes International Film Festival will take place from May 14 to May 26.
