How has Girls’ Generation (SNSD) changed over the years?

Recently dubbing animated film Rio 2, SNSD’s Sunny mentioned her SNSD members in an interview saying, “We have become something other than family to each other. We cheer for one another no matter where we are and what we are doing. I realized that even our individual activities are part of SNSD. I always support them.”

There are nine of them. They dreamed their dreams together, made their debut and grew. It would be a lie to say there were no conflicts along the way. All nine could not receive the spotlight evenly all the time.

Sunny agreed and said, “When we were younger, there was a time when all nine of us had more greed for individual benefits. I think we wanted to stand out among the other members.”

She continued, “We all had different thoughts, such as ‘I can do this well, I want to do this, I want to sing alone, I want to act…’ But there came a moment when we started understanding each other and got to know more about one another. Since I know what each member is good at and what each can do to contribute to SNSD, I just encourage them now. There’s no room for jealousy.”

When commented that there seems to be some members who haven’t shown all their special skills yet, Sunny said, “I think Hyoyeon would be really good if she did musicals. She would be a perfect fit for a dance musical. Yoona would also be good at dubbing a child character. She has that voice of hers. Now that I think of it, she would do really well. Can you recommend her?”

What about Sunny herself? Sunny has been keeping busy in multiple directions, not only as a member of SNSD but in musicals, dubbing and variety shows.

When asked if she has plans to act or become an MC in the future, Sunny said, “No matter how beautiful clothing seems, it has to fit my body in order for me to wear it.”

“In choosing what I do, I have to consider if I can do it well,” said Sunny. “I have not yet met a project or program where I can say, ‘I can do this well.’ I also tend to be very serious and careful in my decisions. But I think I will be doing a program soon, even though I might not be the MC.”

She added, “I’m also preparing a new musical. I’ve never done a musical before but it gave me an enjoyable experience. I still enjoy practicing for many hours and performing on stage. Acting in front of a camera is not something I’m ready for yet. Maybe later? I can do well if I’m asked to do something but I don’t know what will happen in the future.”
