Kim Hyun Joong is making a return to television through a new drama.

Kim Hyun Joong’s agency, Key East, revealed Kim Hyun Joong would be returning to drama acting with the upcoming City Conquest.

City Conquest is based off of the hit Korean comics of the same name and tells the story of Baek Mi Reuh who grows up despising his father who abandoned him and his mother at a young age. He comes to begin exacting his revenge against society’s absolute evils, and the comic was noted for its intriguing storyline combining humanism and action. The original comics were first published in 1996 and had a total of 270 volumes over six acts, or seasons, and sold over 10 million copies.

Kim Hyun Joong has been cast as Baek Mi Reuh who is wild and free-spirited, but is weak in the face of love. The drama will mark Kim Hyun Joong’s first drama since 2010’s Playful Kiss and will be a 180 degree transformation from the soft and flower-boy style characters he has regularly portrayed. A broadcasting station and air date has not yet been decided for City Conquest.
