Similar to the his quiet exit from KBS’s 1 Night, 2 Days over the weekend, entertainer Kang Ho Dong’s silent send off from SBS’s Strong Heart seemed almost unfit for the boisterous TV personality and oft-rambunctious show.

The September 27 broadcast marked Kang’s final appearance on the show since news of his involvement in a tax evasion scandal broke, followed by his announcement to temporarily retire from the entertainment industry. The entertainer’s final episode recorded a 11.1 percent viewer rating, a 0.3 percent increase from last week’s broadcast.

Viewers were most disappointed by the fact that there was no reference made to Kang’s departure from the show. Strong Heart is a program Kang has led since its first broadcast in October 2009, and he’s been a big part of making it the billboard program it is today on SBS. And that is why his exit is all the more saddening not only for Kang, but for the production crew and the viewers, who loved the show, as well.

For now, the show will continue on without Kang with Lee Seung Gi as the main MC. The pre-recorded episode sans Kang will air on October 4.
