“My pride was deeply wounded.”

Singer Yoon Do Hyun candidly revealed his feelings of regret over MBC’s request that he step down from his radio show, 2pm Date

A rep of the DJ released a statement on September 27, saying, “Yoon Do Hyun who meets listeners for two hours every day as a radio DJ and not as the lead singer of YB Band, has had his pride hurt over this matter. He’s come to the conclusion that he will be unable to lead the show with positive energy and tranquility.”

Yoon decided to step down because MBC requested that he move to another program so another DJ could take over his position.

“If Yoon Do Hyun tries to move to another program, that program’s DJ will also have to move to another program, or step down, causing a chain reaction,” said the rep. “This is probably not the most desirable way of reprogramming for both the production crew and listeners. Therefore, as a person who loves radio, Yoon couldn’t accept MBC’s offer to move to other programs.”

Concerning the speculations that he might have been under political pressure, the rep explained, “We’ve confirmed that the decision was made not by outside pressure linked to politics, but it was an arbitrary decision made by high-ranking officials of the broadcasting company.”

Meanwhile, MBC told enews, “We are aware of the press release elucidating Yoon’s stance. Related insiders are currently in discussion over the issue. As soon as the talks are over, we will announce our stance.”

MBC denied the rumor that a DJ who will succeed Yoon in his post has been informally determined, saying, “We’ve ascertained that Yoon’s successor has yet to have been determined as of last night.”
