2NE1 is Number One on Oricon Weekly Chart
2NE1’s debut Japanese album Nolza has claimed the number one spot on the Oricon Weekly Chart.
The album held onto the top spot on the weekly chart on September 27. 2NE1 is the third foreign artist to make it on to the chart since Russian group t.A.T.u and hallyu star Jang Geun Suk made appearances in March 2003 and last April, respectively.
The girls also set a record as the first Korean idol group to rank number one just six days after their debut.
In an interview with Oricon, 2NE1 leader CL expressed her excitement saying, “It hasn’t hit me yet. I’m really happy.” Member Sandara Park added, “I can’t believe it! This is only the start, and we want to play with you all on stage through our music.”
The group’s Japanese concert tour is in full swing, and the girls have already met with 24,000 fans in Yokohama alone on September 19 and 20 and stopped by the Kobe World Memorial Hall on September 24 and 25. 2NE1 is set to greet fans at the Makuhari Messe in Chiba on October 1 and 2.
