[Interview] Park Bo Young Talks About Being on Formal Terms with Lee Jong Suk
Being some of the hottest young stars, Park Bo Young and Lee Jong Suk met in the movie Hot Young Bloods.
After acting alongside stars, such as Song Joong Ki, Joo Won and Lee Min Ho, Park Bo Young didn’t let her fans down in her newest project by creating chemistry with Lee Jong Suk as a high school student.
In a recent interview with Newsen, Park Bo Young said, “I realized how charming Lee Jong Suk is after getting to know him in person. I think his character in the movie Hot Young Bloods is exactly how he is in real life. If I were to pick a trait that’s similar between him and ‘Joong Gil,’ it’s the aegyo. He really has a lot of aegyo.”
Since Park Bo Young was born in February of 1990 and Lee Jong Suk was born in 1989, she calls her oppa and he refers to her as Bo Young ssi (Miss Bo Young).
“Most of the time, I use the formal Korean. So even to oppas that are close to me, I use formal Korean. Jong Suk oppa used formal Korean to me, so I did too, and we didn’t feel uncomfortable about that. We were a bit awkward during filming, but I feel like we got closer now, since we spent a lot of time promoting the movie together,” said the actress.
Giving a twist to her ‘younger sister image’, Park Bo Young acted as a high school gangster, who smokes and swears all the time in the movie Hot Young Bloods.
“My sister would ask me, ‘Is something wrong?’ when I practiced my lines with curses in them,” she said. “I practiced swearing a lot when I was driving. It’s the best time and the moment to do that. Swears came out naturally.”
Expressing her desire to act a bright and happy character in the future, she said, “I’m always open to do a drama, but I haven’t had a chance due to bad timing. I’d like to act out a character I’ve never done before. I’ve taken the roles of character with painful and sad pasts, so I’d like to try acting out a carefree and bright character.”
