Catch Jang Dong Gun in Cheongdam Shooting ‘A Gentleman’s Dignity’
Jang Dong Gun has recently been setting Cheongdam-dong on fire with his presence. As the star of SBS’ upcoming drama A Gentleman’s Dignity, directed by producer Shin Woo Chul and written by Kim Eun Sook, he was brought together with Kim Min Jong, Kim Su Ro and Lee Jong Hyuk in a group called the ‘middle-aged F4’. A Gentleman’s Dignity started shooting near the beginning of April, and is continuing to tour Gangnam with shoots in Cheongdam and Nonhyeon.
Jang Dong Gun is especially contributing to the hype because he was previously known to be a fairly mystic character along with his wife Go So Young, but he’s now appearing often in Cheongdam-dong’s Luxury Street to meet with more people. The piece will be his first small screen piece in 12 years, and along with the great interest given to the piece, Jang Dong Gun himself is enjoying an unprecedented amount of exposure as the shoots for the drama take place in places easy for other people to come watch. Fans can often be seen near the site to cheer him on after hearing about where the shoot is taking place. One official from the drama said, “We’re keeping the shooting schedules and the content of the drama a secret, but we think word is spreading fast because the shoots are taking place in open areas. We believe Jang Dong Gun’s more friendly approach will help promote the drama.”
Jang Dong Gun took on the role of the chief of an architectural firm, Kim Do Jin, who is good at handing out scathing comments. Because Do Jin’s office is set up to be located in Gangnam, most of his shoots take place there. His agency building, owned by his wife Go So Young, is also located in the middle of Cheongdam’s Luxury Street, making it easier for Jang Dong Gun to move to his shoots. The official said, “He’s supposed to be a rough pretty boy in his 40s, but he keeps exposing his weaknesses when funny things keep happening. This humane part of him is expected to steal female hearts.”
Kim Su Ro, on the other hand, will be getting through the drama with a completely straight face. The comedy was given to the originally serious Lee Jong Hyuk. The middle-aged F4, in their 40s, plan to emphasize not only their luxurious images, but also their casual ones by playing baseball in a team. Because Jang Dong Gun and Lee Jong Hyuk are already members of the celebrity baseball team Playboy and are close friends with various baseball players, they will be able to show off their skills as trained pitchers and batters.
A Gentleman’s Dignity will air its first episode on April 26, and will be competing against MBC’s Time Slip Dr. Jin, which stars Song Seung Hun, Kim Jae Joong and Lee Bum Soo.
