Busker Busker Sells Over 50,000 Copies of Debut Album in Three Weeks
The boys of Busker Busker are truly unstoppable!
As of April 18, album sales compiling site, Hanteo, revealed the band’s debut album had sold 50,476 copies. This growing sales figure is all the more remarkable for the fact that the album was released on March 29, making it less than three weeks the band has accomplished this feat.
A look at the number of artists who recorded over 50,000 copies of their album sold in 2011 reveals the number to be fifteen artists, and that list consists mostly of idol hallyu stars such as Super Junior, Girls’ Generation, TVXQ, JYJ, Big Bang and more. The rookie band even managed to place first, for twelve consecutive days, on the daily singles ranking of various music charts such as Melon and Mnet, making it the longest of any artist so far this year.
Regarding this feat, Busker Busker’s album distributor, CJ E&M, explained, “While most popular albums are mostly purchases by individuals in their early teens to early twenties, Busker Busker’s first album was mostly purchased by those in their early twenties to thirties. Despite the fact it has been some time since the album has been released, it is selling about 2,000 copies a day which makes us believe the album will continue to rise in the number of copies sold.”
Busker Busker is currently preparing for its upcoming concert tour, titled Youth Bus.
