[Star of the Week] Yoo Jae Suk, IU, 2PM and More Who Have Tried to Make It Rain Like Rain
You know a song’s a hit if everyone wants in on the action, and from idols to comedians, Rain’s songs have spawned numerous celebrity covers and parodies over the years.
We’ve gathered some of our favorite Rain-wannabe performances, so check them out and let us know which one is your favorite!
2PM gave a nod to Rain, one of Park Jin Young’s first protégés, in a tribute performance on Mnet’s M Countdown, covering a range of Rain’s hits from Bad Boy to Rainism.
2PM also performed an equally-adorable-as-the-original cover of Rain’s Instead of Saying Goodbye on KBS’ Music Bank.
If we’re talking idol group covers, we, of course, can’t leave out Rain’s protégé group MBLAQ.
MBLAQ has covered the gamut of its mentor’s songs, but the boys’ performance of Hip Song is one we could watch over and over again.
Jay Park has been cracking us up since his idol group days, most notably on MBC Every1’s Idol Show.
He may like clowning around, but when it comes to dancing, Jay Park is all business. See Jay Park flip the switch with Rainism below!
The award for cutest cover of Rainism, however, goes to IU, who bust out her dance skills on KBS’ Yoo Hee Yeol’s Sketchbook.
Kim Shin Young
Gag woman and queen of parodies Kim Shin Young went the extra mile and rewrote the lyrics to Rainism, a song about not being able to escape, well, Rain, to describe the one thing she can’t escape – food.
Renamed Binge-ism, try not to get hungry as she lists some of her favorite foods in the clip below.
Yoo Jae Suk
But our favorite parody - not just of Rain, but of all-time – is Yoo Jae Suk’s How to Avoid the Sun.
What happens when one unsexy man performs one of Rain’s sexiest songs?
You just need to watch.
