‘I Am a Singer 2’ to Air First Episode on April 22
Producer Kim Young Hee of I Am a Singer revealed that I Am a Singer 2 will air its first episode on April 22.
At the I Am a Singer 2 press roundtable held on April 5 in Ilsan, producer Kim Young Hee emphasized, “We can’t push it back any longer. I Am a Singer 2 will air its first episode on April 22 regardless of the MBC labor strike.”
Kim Young Hee added, “I Am a Singer 2 has already been pushed back three weeks due to the strike. We’ve been waiting for the strike to end, but the situation isn’t looking too good. If we push the program back any longer, I Am a Singer 2 won’t be able to air because the singers have their own schedules, plans for album releases and overseas concerts.”
“I Am a Singer 2 will be completely different in format and atmosphere compared to the previous season. The boring vocalist-centered performances, strict rankings and midterms will all be changed,” he said.
He finished, “The lineup is fabulous. We sent in offers to 30 singers, and some are in the process of reaching an agreement. We’ll be announcing it sometime next week. We’ll try to make it not a ‘battle of the gods’ but a ‘festival of the gods’. We’re also looking toward a live broadcast.”
Kim Young Hee was the first director of I Am a Singer, but he left the show after a big controversy sprang up regarding the rules of the program. Producer Shin Jung Soo, who had produced Come to Play, filled in for him after his resignation.
