Simon D Stands Out With Hip Hop Track on Crowded Music Chart
Rapper Simon D of hip hop duo Supreme Duo is proving he can make it on his own with the recent release of the single Stay Cool off his solo project album.
Stay Cool, which was released on September 20, has stolen the coveted number one spot on Cyworld’s real time music chart and has ranked high on other various online music charts like Mnet, Bugs Music and Naver Music.
The rapper, who was up against some stiff competition, including JYJ, Huh Gak, Davichi and Sung Si Kyung, held his own against the idols and balladeers with the strong hip hop track.
A representative from Simon D’s agency, Amoeba Culture, said, “Simon D, who has overcome the perception that hip hop is ‘fringe’ music, is enjoying mainstream popularity. He is no longer cruising under the radar. It’s a shame that he’s the only hip hop artist among the chart topping singers, but it also makes his accomplishment that much more significant. He will continue to work hard to promote hip hop alongside artists like LeeSsang and Verbal Jint.”
Stay Cool is a song for the ladies who are tired of the daily grind, encouraging them to stop worrying about love and to give in to their feelings. The teaser video, which was released with the single, features Simon D clowning around as well as more serious moments, highlighting the rapper’s many charms. The project album will be revealed online on September 28, while the official album will go on sale on September 29.
