With idols releasing two, sometimes even three, records a year and making “comebacks” before we even noticed they were gone in the fight to remain relevant in an ever-trendy music market, first generation idol group Shinhwa has stood its ground.

And if the current rankings on the voting page for the 2013 Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA) are any indication, the boys aren’t going anywhere.

[2013 MAMA] D-5: Will Shinhwa Prove to be the Comeback King?

Since voting for the 2013 MAMA opened on October 23, Shinhwa, who returned this year with This Love, has not only taken the lead but continues to surge ahead of its competition for Best Male Group and the highly-coveted Artist of the Year awards.

The fact that this 15-year idol group is beating the likes of today’s hottest idols from EXO, SHINee, Infinite and Teen Top in the Best Male Group category as well as G-Dragon and SNSD for Artist of the Year, makes the feat all the more remarkable.

Although the young idols could pull ahead by the time the award ceremony takes place on November 22 (online voting ends on November 21), if Shinhwa holds on to the top spot, the group will not only be taking home two awards, but true claim to the title of comeback king.
