Super Junior′s Kim Hee Chul Received Royalties for Orange Caramel′s ′Shanghai Romance′
Super Junior’s Kim Hee Chul talked about how much he received in royalties from writing lyrics for Orange Caramel’s song Shanghai Romance.
On JTBC’s Ssulzun aired on November 7, the participants of the show talked about a list of songs that received the highest royalties in 2013.
Kim Hee Chul talked about his experience writing lyrics for girl group Orange Caramel’s song Shanghai Romance after receiving a request from his friend, who worked for Pledis, Orange Caramel′s agency.
Kim Hee Chul said, “The original title of the song was London Boy and had lyrics such as ‘Let’s cross the Thames river,’ which I later changed the title to Shanghai Romance and wrote ‘Let’s cross the Yangtze river.’”
He then revealed the royalties that he received from the song.
He confessed, “When the song was doing pretty well, I got paid over 3 million won (~2,817 USD) each month when I was in the army.”
